Well… where do i start… I bought the first Tech40 via Ebays Kleinanzeige in Germany. And quickly discovered the machine how they work. They are perfect Gas analyzers to have around with stroboscopes.
And because they happened to come in a Tech40 form i really was into them…. Sooo i kept buying them, now i have 4 of them.
Quickly discovered that the screens that come with them have a flaw in the flyback transformer and they will break. But these screens are EGA (or sort of… Digital TTL EGA screens where Sun flipped some wires in the connector).
So i set out to create my own converter to VGA… Which you can purchase from me if you have a DGA with a broken screen. I sell them for 100 euro a piece. Almost plug and play so you can attach a TFT screen with VGA.
The DGA’s also contain a Clockbattery just as in the MGA-1200 units. So they will need a modification to keep the data.
With all my donor machines i bought ( in total 4 times a DGA-1800). I managed to get 4 Tech40’s completly up and running and complete.
Some with ASA-200, DSS-1 and the best ultimate one with DSS-2.
And for two of them i have a PDL-1000 attached with a special bracket.
With all these donor machines i collected a nice collection of diskettes and ROM’s and manuals. Which i share on this page.
